    Alex Crippin, President of Hearing Associates, holds a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University in Psychology. With a background that blends counseling and technology, he leads the practice with a focus on patient-centered care and team development. Born in Sioux City, Iowa, and raised in Storm Lake, Alex now lives in Mason City with his wife, Laura, and their two children, Lincoln and London.

    Caroline Cross earned a Bachelor of Arts in speech and hearing science and another in psychology from the University of Iowa. She later completed her Doctor of Audiology at the same institution. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in vestibular sciences and disorders from Salus University. Caroline specializes in hearing conservation and adult diagnostics. She lives in Mason City, Iowa, with her husband, Justin, and their cats, Willow and Ash. She enjoys baking and reading.

        Evaluation of balance and vestibular function, including videonystagmography (VNG), electronystagmography (ENG), and posturography tests.

        Information and support regarding hearing loss, hearing conservation, communication strategies, and coping mechanisms for individuals and their families.
      • Custom Earplugs and Earmolds
        Creation and fitting of custom-made earplugs for hearing protection, swimming, musicians, and other specific needs. Also includes earmolds for hearing aids or in-ear monitors.
      • Hearing Aid Fitting and Repair
        Selection, fitting, and programming of hearing aids to address hearing loss. This includes counseling on the proper use and maintenance of hearing aids.
      • Hearing Evaluations
        Comprehensive assessments to evaluate hearing abilities, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, and otoacoustic emissions (OAE) testing.
      • Pediatric Audiology
        Specialized services for children, including hearing screenings, diagnostic evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and educational support for parents and caregivers.
      • Tinnitus Evaluation and Management
        Assessment, counseling, and development of strategies to manage tinnitus (ringing or buzzing sound in the ears).
