    Kristin Johnston, a board-certified hearing instrument specialist for over 25 years and owner of Comprehensive Ear & Hearing Grand Haven, is passionate about the intersection of health, wellness, and hearing care. With a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Hope College and additional coursework in communicative disorders at Calvin College, she believes in the gift of hearing as a powerful tool to enhance life and deepen human connection.

    Kristin embraces a well-rounded approach to hearing health, addressing overall well-being and emphasizing a holistic path to wellness. She works closely with primary care and ENT offices to ensure collaborative, comprehensive care for her patients.

    Kristin is also a strong advocate for inclusive care – welcoming and supporting individuals from all walks of life. She believes that hearing care is a key part of inclusive communication and strives to create an environment where every patient feels respected, seen, and empowered to advocate for their hearing needs with confidence. At CEH, her mission is simple: all ears, all voices, all are welcome.

    Cadan Kleinheksel, a board-certified hearing instrument specialist, brings both deep technical knowledge and a genuine, down-to-earth approach to patient care. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in kinesiology from Hope College, and has been immersed in the hearing care field since age 17 – doing everything from cleaning the clinic to assisting with nursing home visits. His early hands-on experience and long-standing commitment to the profession laid the foundation for his passion today.

    Cadan is known for blending science-based expertise with an open, honest communication style. He has a knack for breaking down complex hearing topics into easy-to-understand explanations and helping patients feel informed, empowered, and at ease. A true “hearing tech geek” at heart, Cadan is driven by a love for innovation and a deep belief in the power of accessible, caring healthcare.

    Dr. Terry R. DeGroot graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois and the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. His surgical internship was completed at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and his otolaryngology residency was at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York. Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1980 and a practicing physician in West Michigan ever since, Dr. DeGroot enjoys helping people of all ages and finds ear and hearing care especially rewarding. His focus includes cerumen (earwax) management, examination and treatment of ear canal and hearing concerns, as well as cochlear implant consultations.

    Victoria joined CEH in 2023 as our Patient Care Coordinator and quickly became an invaluable team member. She brings valuable experience from a well-known regional healthcare facility, with a strong passion for patient care and exceptional follow-up. Victoria excels at fostering collaboration to ensure top-tier care, service, and support. Through her commitment to growth, she gained key hearing aid technician skills to further assist our providers. Her dedication and expertise have made her such a valuable teammate that she is now our Practice Manager.

        Recommendations and fitting of ALDs such as personal amplifiers, FM systems, or loop systems to improve hearing in specific listening situations.
      • Auditory Rehabilitation
        Individualized programs to help individuals with hearing loss develop better communication strategies and improve listening skills.
      • Counseling and Education
        Information and support regarding hearing loss, hearing conservation, communication strategies, and coping mechanisms for individuals and their families.
      • Custom Earplugs and Earmolds
        Creation and fitting of custom-made earplugs for hearing protection, swimming, musicians, and other specific needs. Also includes earmolds for hearing aids or in-ear monitors.
      • Hearing Aid Fitting and Repair
        Selection, fitting, and programming of hearing aids to address hearing loss. This includes counseling on the proper use and maintenance of hearing aids.
      • Hearing Evaluations
        Comprehensive assessments to evaluate hearing abilities, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, and otoacoustic emissions (OAE) testing.
      • Industrial Audiology
        Workplace hearing evaluations, noise exposure assessments, and recommendations for hearing conservation programs to prevent occupational hearing loss.
      • Tinnitus Evaluation and Management
        Assessment, counseling, and development of strategies to manage tinnitus (ringing or buzzing sound in the ears).
