  • Caroline Aland

    Dr. Caroline Aland has been a resident of Kent Island and a private practitioner with Chesapeake Hearing Centers since 1986. She earned her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her doctorate from the University of Florida. Dr. Aland’s passion for helping people has touched lives at Womack Army Hospital, Durham VA Hospital, and UNC Hospital’s ENT Clinic. Appointed by the governor of Maryland, she served on the State Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers, and Speech-Language Pathologists. Dr. Aland’s compassion, professionalism, and expertise are all valuable assets to our practice and our patients. You can see her at many of our locations.

  • Amy Pan
    Hearing Aid Dispenser

    Amy Pan earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She played NCAA Division III volleyball and worked as a student athletic trainer while attending college. Amy has served our patients since 2014 and is licensed to dispense hearing aids in the state of Maryland. Our Kent Island and Easton patients see Amy for routine cleanings, adjustments, and troubleshooting of their hearing aids. She also serves as the chief hearing aid coordinator for Chesapeake Hearing Centers and ensures best practices across our eight offices. Amy is a sports enthusiast and has long been an active volunteer in her local community.

  • Jennifer Schmeusser
    Insurance And Billing Specialist

    Credentialed through the NRCCS to serve as an expert on insurance, Jennifer Schmeusser stands ready to help you with your insurance and billing questions. A lifelong Maryland resident, her favorite pastimes include eating crab with her family and playing with her boxer and miniature schnauzer. She spent 15 years designing bouquets at a flower shop and enjoys being creative through gardening and making gift baskets.

    Outreach Coordinator

    Friendly and easy to chat with, Maris Walker enjoys scheduling, helping resolve patients’ concerns, offering encouragement, and setting up outreach at health fairs, senior centers, and networking events. She has been a volunteer and mentor to many women in several support groups for almost 30 years. Since 2002 her passion has been her dedication to the Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation to help find a cure for childhood Alzheimer’s. Her two grown daughters and grandchildren are the lights of her life. Maris enjoys gardening, yoga, cruises, and walking.

    Timothy Aland has been with Chesapeake Hearing Centers since 1992 and enjoys providing services to our community. A longtime resident of Maryland, he has lived on Kent Island since 1987 and is involved in his church and community. He has served Christ Church on the Vestry as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader. A father of three adult children, he enjoys the outdoors, coaching lacrosse, and singing with the Queen Anne’s Chorale.

    Melissa Brown greets patients in our Easton location. While she was born and raised in Easton and St. Michaels, she recently relocated back to Maryland from Nashville. She has always had compassion for others and wants to help people in any way she can to enjoy a better way of life. Before joining Chesapeake Hearing Centers, Melissa had over 13 years of experience in home health care, including owning her own home health care business. She enjoys spending time with her two sons and six grandchildren, all of whom are local. She is an avid reader and truly loves God’s creations, including beautiful sunsets and moonlight over the water.

    Xanthy Hoover works in our Kent Island and Easton offices, and she graduated from Towson University with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She enjoys greeting patients and having the opportunity to meet new people. Xanthy had the good fortune to stay home and raise her son until he went off to college in South Carolina. She grew up in Western Maryland but has had the best of both worlds, coming to stay weekends in Queenstown for over 30 years. Seven years ago, Xanthy – along with her husband, son, and family dog, Tucker – moved to the Eastern shore. They built a house in Centreville surrounded by woods and wildlife, where her family enjoys spending time.

  • Rachel Lam

    Dr. Rachel Lam earned her bachelor of science degree in speech-language pathology and audiology and her doctorate from Towson University. Dr. Lam’s clinical experience includes training at Towson University’s Institute for Well-Being, Live Better Hearing, Community Audiology Services, and Johns Hopkins Cochlear Implant Center. She has special interests in diagnostic testing, hearing aids, and cochlear implants. Helping patients maintain the ability to communicate with others and stay active in their community is what drew Dr. Lam to the field of audiology. Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.

      Chesapeake Hearing Centers is one of the oldest hearing centers in Easton and in the state of Maryland, and you can be assured that we treat each patient just as we would want to be treated.       • Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)
        Recommendations and fitting of ALDs such as personal amplifiers, FM systems, or loop systems to improve hearing in specific listening situations.
      • Auditory Rehabilitation
        Individualized programs to help individuals with hearing loss develop better communication strategies and improve listening skills.
      • Balance Assessments
        Evaluation of balance and vestibular function, including videonystagmography (VNG), electronystagmography (ENG), and posturography tests.
      • Counseling and Education
        Information and support regarding hearing loss, hearing conservation, communication strategies, and coping mechanisms for individuals and their families.
      • Custom Earplugs and Earmolds
        Creation and fitting of custom-made earplugs for hearing protection, swimming, musicians, and other specific needs. Also includes earmolds for hearing aids or in-ear monitors.
      • Hearing Aid Fitting and Repair
        Selection, fitting, and programming of hearing aids to address hearing loss. This includes counseling on the proper use and maintenance of hearing aids.
      • Hearing Evaluations
        Comprehensive assessments to evaluate hearing abilities, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, and otoacoustic emissions (OAE) testing.
      • Pediatric Audiology
        Specialized services for children, including hearing screenings, diagnostic evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and educational support for parents and caregivers.
      • Tinnitus Evaluation and Management
        Assessment, counseling, and development of strategies to manage tinnitus (ringing or buzzing sound in the ears).
